2017 Honda Clarity Electric Begins Arriving in Showrooms

Those who have missed the accessible and efficient Insight Hybrid, there’s a new green Honda model arriving in showrooms. Meet the 2017 Clarity Electric, one of two hybrid models arriving this year. The plug-in version will arrive later, but the pure EV variant arrived in dealerships at the start of the month.

The 2017 Clarity Electric offers similar styling to the hydrogen-powered model launched in California at the end of last year, and comes appointed with a wide variety of amenities and tech. Among these include standard Honda Sensing, and Honda Link. All models will be offered for lease, with a 20,0000 miles-per-year allowance.

But the real story is the 2017 Clarity Electric’s powertrain, which features a 161-hp high-output electric motor and lithium-ion batteries with 25.5 kWh capacity. Thanks to the help of the SAE Combined Charging System, the EV can reach 80 percent of its full charge in a scant 30 minutes, with full charging clocking in at three hours with a 240 volt connector.

While the 2017 Clarity Electric will only be offered in California and Oregon to start, we hope that it will eventually make it to our dealership here in Great Falls, MT. Stay tuned to our blog to learn more to that effect, or contact our new Honda showroom to learn about our other efficient models.
